SIX

Wynne's birthday was the same day as her Grandpa's funeral.  Not exactly how a little girl expects to celebrate her birthday, but it was a very special day nevertheless.  Surrounded by loving family bearing gifts and birthday cake, who could ask for anything more?
The circle of life continues.  The older grandkids chat quietly with their aunts, uncles, and grandma in the house (with a ballgame on the TV, of course), while the younger grandkids play games in the back yard.  Grandpa would like it that way;)

My amazing, incredible, beautiful, strong, loving, AWESOME mother stole a few moments out of the long, emotional day to make a birthday card for her granddaughter.  Five days earlier, we had been visiting with Grandma and Grandpa and had planned to meet on Friday night at Culver's for a birthday supper.  God had other plans.  There we were, on Friday night eating leftover funeral luncheon food and holding on to one another with love, tears, laughter, and memories.

Somehow, Mom had already put together a gift for Wynne.  And of course, the birthday card was signed "Grandma and Grandpa".  Because Grandpa is still a part of Grandma, and he always will be.  Today in church, Wynne drew a picture of Grandpa playing baseball in heaven.  Could the thoughts of a six-year-old be far from reality?

And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."--Matthew 18:3

What an amazing gift to give your children: a deep faith in Jesus Christ and that Grandpas play baseball in heaven. Inspiring.
