Living Room Zoo
More snow day adventures, this time INSIDE "th" house!
Last spring Uncle Brad gave us several beanie babies, as did my nephew Jared's wife Amber. Combined with our own kids' personal collections (many which were purchased at garage sales), we have quite the stash now.
One of the kids' favorite things to do with their beanie animals is to make zoos. They sort them into various environments (habitats, biomes, what have you) and take me on tours through their zoo. (The camera battery was dying, so you'll have to excuse the pictures. I think the one above is from their Australian outback center.)
Welcome to the Aquarium! (My favorite part = the pelicans in the floor lamp.)
This is the Deciduous Forest. (No, they did not use the word "deciduous", but I like to imagine that they did!)
The Farm. Complete with the rare Red Bull!
The last one before the battery died. I think it's the Jungle!
Other parts of the zoo included Antarctica (penguins), Monkeys/Primates (in an upside-down clothes hamper), Cats, and Dogs. Cats and dogs are so plentiful in our house, they get their own special habitats.
The zoo has now closed temporarily for the season, due to house cleaning. Oh, and the need to borrow some of the animals for the 10 Plagues of Egypt lesson at Sunday School. (Ty Corporation, where is a Beanie Baby Scarab Beetle when I need it??)
So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind....God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.--Genesis 1: 21, 25

I LOVE the zoo they created! How very creative of them to set it up....and wow! You guys have a LOT of beanie babies! LOL!
I love the creative juices that flow when we have snow days. :)
