Season Closer
We wrapped up Ally's basketball season the other night in Galena. We are supposed to be a 7th and 8th grade team, but with only three 8th graders and one 7th grader, Ally and another 6th grader have to play "up". It's been a struggle all year, to say the least. But Tri-State Christian is at the same level (of ages/abilities) as us, and we were victorious!
I didn't take many photos because I was busy videotaping the game at the same time. We go home and analyze every game, play by play, until Ally understands what she did wrong and what she can work on for next time. And then we put on our coats and shovel through to the basketball court and drill, drill, drill!! Yep, I am one of those parents who believes you can never have too many games, and I live vicariously through my kids so that we can avoid the emptiness at home. I'd rather be at a game; Sunday mornings are my preference actually.
Oh, how I kid.
Ally was a little disappointed that she didn't score any points in this last game, but sometimes that's the way it goes. Your shots are not always to going to fall, but you have to keep taking them. Keep trying, and good things will happen!
As much as I dislike hauling the kids all over creation during the winter season, I am kind of sad that our team doesn't get to play any more this year, because our girls were just starting to get aggressive and make a game of it. By the end of the season, Ally and her teammates were playing with much more confidence and aggression, and they were pretty fun to watch. I hope we can get a few more kids out next year (or join with the Catholic school girls), so we can be more competitive and have kids of the correct age on each team!
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. --Philippians 1:6
