Takin' Care of Business

I've been singing that refrain a lot the past couple of days, only with different words. "That Christian parody band" Apologetix came to town on Friday night, and our church sponsored them at the fairgrounds. There must have been about 300 people there, and Mark got a chance to be a "roadie". (minus the tattoos and black t-shirts!) It was a really fun experience, and something that our whole family could enjoy.

Shae wanting to be a singer when she grows up (now she's saying "music teacher") and Cy loving the guitar riffs and drum beats, it was no surprise who ran up on stage when the lead singer asked for volunteers from the audience to help sing "Jacob's Name Was Israel" (to the tune of "Takin' Care of Business").

Having only been to one major concert in our lifetime (and that one being outdoors), Mark and I were not prepared for the VOLUME. But the band was very good, the guitar and drum solos amazing, and the gospel message was woven throughout. The interaction and conversation with the audience and among the band members was funny and at times, inspirational.

Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; celebrate His lovely name with music.--Psalm 135:3
Apologetix has been around for about 20 years and has played in every state and in nations around the world. We were their 1240th concert, kind of impressive!!
Other songs that I keep singing in my head...
"Walk on the water" (Smoke on the Water)
"Learn some Deuteronomy" (Pour Some Sugar on Me)
"I love the Lord with all my might" (I Want to Rock & Roll All Night)
"I Love Apostle Paul" (I Love Rock & Roll)

And on and on and on....they played for over 2 hours before taking their first break! The girls and I went home, but Cy wasn't going anywhere. He stayed and helped tear down after the concert. (Still at the age where it's pretty cool to stay up past midnight!)
