Happy Homecoming
After almost a year, our pastor is home again!!
This was Mark's second deployment. He is a Chaplain with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 18, and they were in Afghanistan for 2010. In 2008, he served with a different Seabee group in Iraq.
Mark shepherds two churches, and several members of both congregations were on hand last night to welcome him home.
Young and old were so happy to see him!! Home safe and sound!!
I had about 2 hours' notice to pop some kettlecorn and make a sign. The kids got off the bus, asked for their usual snack, and I told them "sign this thing and get in the car...Pastor Mark is coming home NOW!"
From dusty, dry Kandahar to cold, damp Wisconsin!
Amid all the doom & gloom of our local news, the weather, and family illness, God promises hope and restoration. We are so grateful for His goodness, and thankful to every single soldier sacrificing for our freedom!
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are.
In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. All power to him forever! Amen. --1 Peter 5:8-11
